Oasis is a growing online dating site targeting North America, Europe as well as other regions across the globe. The site is based on the same format as the oasis active model currently on track to becoming a market leader in the free online dating game in Australia..
Oasis is based on an advertising revenue model, in that it earns its revenue by selling ad space on the oasis site pages. Whereas this may be a little distracting at times the clear advantage is that this allows oasis to deliver a free service that can rival the paid dating service providers.
Oasis is gaining ground on the paid dating sites in a large part because of this free business model. There is no doubt about it; consumers like free and with any online dating site one of the key drivers of success is the volume of traffic and the number of members it is able to attract and hold. Of course there are some free dating sites that will be hard to beat such as Plenty of Fish and there will always be a certain percentage of the online dating community who want a more specialized service that certain paid dating sites deliver but it is always nice to have a new player in the market and one that has shown it can attract and hold members.
Oasis Rating: 3.5 – 5 overall for dating
One important statistic to remember is that 20% of the profiles get 80% of the attention. Generally speaking we all think we are younger, smarter and better looking than we are. It is human nature to look for the perfect partner and we all have certain characteristics we look for. The fact is you can filter out potential partners by age, height, weight, interests and by their looks. This means we are all filtering out a lot of potential partners because frankly we think too highly of ourselves. The lucky few left in our results are very likely the same ones in left in everyone else’s search results. So remember this 20% is getting 80% of the attention so they are going to be highly discerning if not completely overwhelmed. Don’t take rejection to heart if you want to be happy simply put less emphasis on peoples looks. There are many very nice, attractive people out there who may not be as photogenic or poetic or quite frankly have such a high opinion of themselves. When your browsing through photos one click at a time try and consider this and try to be open minded we live in a very critical, objective society and online dating is not helping matters. Try and look passed the photo and try and read into what people say about themselves with an open mind 'don't be so critical'.
Oasis is a very good sites with well thought through features to help you in your quest for a partner, date or even a friend. Knowing what you are looking for will help, not having too high an expectation and understanding the pitfalls of online dating will also help. Remember oasis or other sites are simply the venue they attract people just like you looking for something. How you approach it, the people you search for, chat with and possibly meet depends on you. Do not be too critical of the site if you have a bad or boring experience. Be positive, be careful but not too suspicious of people and you will get out of it what you put in. Obviously some people are more cut out for this type of thing but hey what have you got to loose. Relax, exercise some common sense, enjoy and give online ating a try millions of people are doing it.
My number one safety tip is: only date locals. Ask specific questions that only locals will know. Spend some time chatting online before meeting someone. When you are ready, meet in a public place maybe with a friend but don’t invite people you don't know over for drinks. A quick coffee at a local coffee shop in the middle of the day is great. Don’t have too high of an expectations, approach it as meeting a new friend. Exercise common sense but don’t be too suspicious. If someone sounds too good to be true they probably are so be cautious. Never lend anyone money for any reason (that is just silly) and don’t give out too many personal details online. Relax, ask about them, talk about things they are interested in, don’t compare them to your last boy or girl friend. Most important enjoy the experience remember we are doing this for fun :)
